About

Evan Seay grew up in the mountains of Southwest Virginia—and the mountain’s love of stories and nature has never left him.

Growing up, he played bass guitar in his family’s country group, the Hollow Springs Band, and appears on two full-length albums of original music with the group: 2011’s “Roads to Nowhere” (Listen on Spotify, and Purchase on iTunes) and 2013’s “To the Wall” (Listen on Spotify, and Purchase on iTunes). He continues to play bass guitar, and was the bassist for James Seay’s 2024 EP “It’s the Little Things” (Listen on Spotify, and Purchase on iTunes). He also plays guitar, piano, and messes around with a handful of other instruments. His solo music can be heard on Soundcloud and YouTube.

Evan graduated from the University of North Carolina Wilmington’s Creative Writing Program in May 2021 with University Honors with Honors in Creative Writing and a BFA in Creative Writing with a Publishing Certificate. His writing appears in Atlantis Magazine, The Monarch Magazine, and in Chautauqua Journal. He won First Place in 2018 and Third Place in 2019 for micro-fiction at the Atlantis Dreamweave Storytelling Festival Microfiction Contest. His Honors Thesis for the UNCW Honors College was a collection of essays focusing on the wilderness and wild-ness of Linville Gorge, North Carolina.

Hiking, camping, and photography are some of Evan’s other favorite hobbies. He enjoys spending time outdoors and exploring new places, even if they’re just down the street. Some of these pursuits are visually documented in the Photo Album.
